Contact Your Senator! The Time to Stop False Claims is Now!!
A state False Claims Act is anti-business, anti-health care, and ultimately harmful to Pennsylvania residents. The structure of a state False Claims Act (FCA) encourages a frivolous “sue and settle” system. Small businesses, rural hospitals, small physician practices, and clinics are often forced to settle, regardless of the merits of the claim, so they are not financially ruined. It will raise the cost of your healthcare as well as goods and services. Your voice is needed to stop this legislation!
As part of its advocacy efforts on the issue, the Pennsylvania Coalition for Civil Justice Reform (PCCJR) conducted a Lobby Day earlier this week in the state Capitol. The Senate meetings confirmed that the state FCA is still very much in the mix as budget negotiations continue. Despite evidence to the contrary from other states, the Shapiro administration continues to tout the proposal as a solution to the state’s ongoing budgetary woes and is continuing to push for its enactment in the Commonwealth.
As budget negotiations continue, it is critical that lawmakers hear from individuals, industries, and job creators that will be negatively impacted by a state FCA. PCCJR has prepared a letter for you to send to your state Senator expressing your opposition to passing a state False Claims Act.
The letter can be found on PCCJR’s website. The website page provides an easy step by step process of contacting your Senator with the prepared letter. PCCJR strongly urges you to send this e-mail to anyone who might be interested and urge them to send this letter as well.
Now is the time for the Senate to hear from you in opposition to a False Claims Act!
