PCCJR Advocates for Change!

PCCJR has been spreading the word across Pennsylvania about the dangers of nuclear verdicts and lawsuit abuse.

Last week, PCCJR Executive Director Curt Schroder and Matt Fullenbaum of the American Tort Reform Association (ATRA) participated in a panel discussion on Pennsylvania’s legal climate and the need for civil justice reform at the 2025 Pennsylvania Leadership Conference. The conference was broadcast live across Pennsylvania on the Pennsylvania Cable Network.

“We really are caught in a trap here in Pennsylvania,” Schroder told the audience. “It’s a trap that’s been made so by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court as well as the legislature…Our appellate courts and legislature have favored expanding exposure to liability…That makes it more and more likely that your small business or you as an individual will be the victim of an unfortunate civil lawsuit.”

The dangers of Nuclear Verdicts were highlighted as well as venue shopping and other top issues confronting the civil justice system. A video of the panel discussion can be found here.

PCCJR Executive Director Curt Schroder also discussed the Commonwealth’s status as the nation’s worst “Judicial Hellhole” and the impact that ranking has on its business and economic climates on a recent edition of PMA Perspective – a program produced by the PA Manufacturers Association that airs statewide on the Pennsylvania Cable network. The program featured commentary on the toll “nuclear verdicts” are having on the health care industry, as well as various reforms that would bring greater stability and predictability to the state’s legal environment while at the same time boosting job creation and economic activity.
