The 2023 election cycle will focus on judicial seats, with a number of candidates on the ballot to fill positions in municipal and statewide appellate courts throughout the Commonwealth. Pennsylvania’s judicial system includes three statewide appellate levels – Commonwealth Court, Superior Court and Supreme Court. Judicial elections are extremely important as court decisions can have long lasting impacts on the state’s legal climate.
This year the state Supreme Court has one open seat following the death of Justice Max Baer. A complete listing of candidates that will appear on the May Primary Ballot for the statewide judicial seats can be found here.
PCCJR will soon be publishing its Voter Guide for the 2023 election cycle. The guide will feature candidate responses to our judicial candidate questionnaire.
